Sáng ngày 1 tháng 7 năm 2024, chứng kiến lễ khai mạc “Siêu Trại Mạo Hiểm Toàn Quốc Hướng Đạo Gốc Việt Lần Thứ 5”: Trại Khai Phá (TKP5). Dưới sự điều hành của Trại trưởng Frank Sam Tran, hơn 160 Thanh Sinh nam nữ và 66 Trưởng đã hành trình đến Trại Rancho Alegre ở Santa Barbara, tiểu bang California để tham gia một kỳ trại phiêu lưu mạo hiểm kéo dài một tuần. Mười bốn (14) Thanh đoàn có mặt tại TKP5 từ Nam California, Bắc California, Texas, Virginia và Úc Châu!
Trại Rancho Alegre gần như bị thiệt hại hoàn toàn trong trận hỏa hoạn Whittier vào tháng 7 năm 2017. Phải mất gần bảy năm để xây dựng lại trại trường với tốc độ chậm lại đáng kể trong thời gian đại dịch để chào đón các trại sinh tái nhập trại vì đất trại đã phục vụ giới trẻ hơn 50 năm trước vụ hỏa hoạn. TKP5 sẽ là trại kéo dài một tuần tại Camp Rancho Alegre.
Trong TKP5, các nam nữ Thanh Sinh sẽ thi đua qua cuộc sống sinh tồn nơi hoang dã, xây dựng tình bạn thông qua các hoạt động COPE và các trò chơi dưới nước cùng với việc thực hành bắn súng an toàn ở nhiều hạng mục khác nhau. Điểm nổi bật của trại là chủ đề “Về Miền Tây” sẽ là vào thực hiện vào giữa tuần khi tất cả các trại sinh sẽ có cơ hội cưỡi ngựa như những người kỵ mã Cao Bồi miền viễn Tây Hoa Kỳ.

Morning of July1st, 2024 witnessed the opening ceremony to start the fifth National Vietnamese Venturing Supercamp: Trai Khai Pha 5 (TKP5). Under the leadership of Venturing Crew Advisor Frank Sam Tran, over 160 Venturers and 66 adult staff have journeyed to Camp Rancho Alegre in Santa Barbara, CA, for this week-long high adventure camp. Fourteen crews are present at TKP5, from Southern California, Northern California, Texas, Virginia and Australia!
Camp Rancho Alegre was nearly completely wiped out during the Whittier Fire in July 2017. It has taken almost seven years to rebuild the campsite, with significant slow down during the pandemic, to be ready for campers to return to the camp which has served youth for over 50 years prior to the fire. TKP5 will be Camp Rancho Alegre's inaugural week-long camp.
During TKP5, Venturers will compete in wilderness survival, forge friendships through COPE activities and water games in the pool, and practice safe shooting on various ranges. The highlight of the Western-themed camp will be mid-week when all campers will be offered the opportunity to go horseback riding.
